Ralph Q. Summerford, president of Forensic Strategic Solutions, attended and presented at the 28th Annual ACFE Global Fraud conference earlier this month in Nashville. With 80,000 members, the ACFE is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization. 3,100 fraud prevention professionals attended the conference.
In a guest blog featured on ACFE Insights, Ralph shared key takeaways from the conference, including how the world of fraud is rapidly changing due to new technologies. Computer hacking, ransomware and cyber theft continue to grow exponentially. It’s also becoming more difficult to find thieves who hide behind computer screens.
In his blog, Mr. Summerford also explained the conference is a great opportunity for peers in fraud prevention to connect and discuss the latest and greatest developments in the industry. At the conference, Mr. Summerford, who has spoken at the event 15 times, educated attendees on the auditor’s responsibility to detect fraud, as well as the devastating consequences of an auditor’s failure to discover a fraud scheme.
