Birmingham, AL – November 16, 2011 – Ralph Q. Summerford, president of Forensic Strategic Solutions, Inc., has been selected as a member of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Comprehensive Cancer Center Advisory Board.
The Advisory Board is a volunteer group of community leaders who raise funds to provide patient amenities and increase awareness of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Most members of the Advisory Board have been touched by cancer in their own lives.
“All of us have friends or family members who have been impacted by cancer,” Summerford said. “My own father died of cancer and my mother, who has now passed away, was a cancer survivor. It is very important for me to be able to do what I can to help others whose lives are being impacted by the disease.”
Since the board’s inception in 1984, it has raised more than $12 million for the center.
“We are pleased and honored to welcome passionate individuals like Ralph to our Board,” said Edward Partridge, M.D., director of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. “Ralph brings unique talents, strengths, and experiences to the table. We are grateful for his commitment and dedication to the Cancer Center by encouraging others to become involved and contribute to advancing scientific research and understanding of the disease.”
The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center is among the 40 cancer centers in the nation to meet the stringent criteria for the National Cancer Institute’s comprehensive designation. The center is a leader in groundbreaking research, reducing cancer disparities and leading-edge patient care.
