The threat of a cyberbreach continues to be a top priority for business owners. However, nefarious actors are often internal to a company – a trusted employee with access to valuable data is frequently the person responsible for committing fraud. In order to combat would-be fraudsters, Kelly explains that fraud examiners need to have technical knowledge around information systems, expertise in data analytics, investigative skills to understand relevant risks and controls in preventing and detecting fraud. Data tells the story of how fraud is committed, and analyzing it effectively is the key to solving these crimes.
